 Specialty Beers
Our Specialty Beers are brewed monthly. Preview and release dates are located below the label images. These beers are previewed the Tuesday before their release. We hold drawings for prizes and the winner of the First Pint of the new batch. Release dates are the Friday following the preview party.

Please note, the beers marked "Gettysburg Specialty" are beers that we make from time to time, and do not adhere to any schedule. Also, we may run out of certain beers. Please call 717.334.2200 before your visit to see what beers are currently on tap.
Gettysburg Specialty
Karma California Common
OG: 13.2, FG: 2.8, ABV: 5.55, ABW: 4.33
This West Coast style beer is brewed at ale temperatures with a lager yeast. This beer is moderately malty with a pronounced hop bitterness. The malt character is toasty with caramel notes. The moderate woodiness of the Northern Brewer hops shines through.
This is a true original American style. Shallow open rooftop fermenters were traditionally used to compensate for the absence of refrigeration and to take advantage of the cool ambient temperatures in the San Francisco Bay area. Steam rising from these coolships gave California Common it's now trademarked nickname - steam beer.

Gettysburg Specialty
Tripelocity
This golden Belgian tripel is light in body but strong on flavor.  The light malts used to build the flavor are balanced by a strong hop profile.  The addition of Belgian candi sugar lightens the body and adds both a higher alcohol level as well as a dense rocky white head.  This will be brewed at Gettysburg and distributed in limited quantities to Harrisburg and Camp Hill..

Gettysburg Specialty
Vanilla Porter
Our smooth schwarzbier-like vanilla porter has a roasted flavor that is accented with a touch of vanilla. A toddy made from real vanilla beans is added during the prolonged aging process, producing a clean, crisp, complex brew! This will be brewed at Gettysburg and distributed in limited quantities to Harrisburg and Camp Hill..

Gettysburg Specialty
Obbie's Grand Cru

Obbie's Grand Cru is the first in a series of Belgian style beers to come from the Gettysburg ABC. This Belgian Golden combines a slight spiciness with a complex maltiness. The bittering is evident and balanced against a pleasant fruity character. Although the abv. (7.2) is somewhat elevated, this beer is very nice and effervescent on a nice summer day.

Obbie is the brain child of one of our great Mug Club Members - Scott Balthasar. If you wish, you may visit Scott's website and purchase apparel featuring Obbie, or as he is better known... St. Obnoxious! www.saintobnoxious.com

Gettysburg Specialty
Shimmelfenig Smoked Ale
In line with the great Rauch (smoked) beers of Bamberg, Germany, our brewers bring you a rich and delightful smoked ale. This beer is brown in color and features Weyerman's smoked malt and is aged on smoked applewood chips. This offers an intricate smoked flavor balanced by a medium sweetness.

Born in Prussia, Brigadier General Alexander Shimmelfenig was in command of the Union's XI Corps on the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg. During their retreat to Cemetery Hill, he was "struck down by the blow of a gun" and had to seek shelter in a pigsty for two days. To him and his unfortunate experience, we dedicate this bold smoked ale!

January Specialty
Zoigl Star Lager

OG: 14.0; FG: 2.8; ABW: 4.6; ABV: 5.9
Zoigl is a golden, unfiltered lager beer which was originally brewed only in the region of Eastern Bavaria, between Franconia and the Czech Republic. For centuries, Zoigl was brewed in brewhouses owned by the town or an association of small brewers.

The Zoigl-Star, a six-angular star similar to the Star of David, was the sign of brewers in the middle ages. The star symbolizes the three elements (water, earth, and fire) and the three ingredients (water, malt, and hops) used for brewing. The importance of the yeast was not yet known in the 1400’s.

February Specialty
Abbey Roade Belgian Ale
OG: 15.3, FG: 2.9, ABW: 5.1, ABV: 6.4
Abbey Roade is brewed in the tradition of the famous Belgian Abbey-style ales.  This wonderful brew is soft and sweet up front.  The complex and spicy middle palate is in most part due to the generous addition of dark Belgian candy sugar.  This semi-dry ale has notes of ripe plum and pear with a peppery finish.
The origins of the Abbey-style ale date back to the Middle Ages.  Monks residing in monasteries, called Abbeys, brewed beer as a source of nutrition during their frequent and often lengthy fasting periods.

March Specialty
Celtic Knot Irish Red

OG: 12.7, FG: 3.3, ABW: 3.9, ABV: 4.8
Celtic Knot is a beautiful and buoyant red ale.  It's toffee-like malt sweetness give this beer flavor that is hard to beat.  It finishes crisp and clean with a moderate hop perception like the famous red ales of Dublin.

OG: 12.0, FG: 2.7, ABW: 3.8, ABV: 4.8
This Czechoslovakian style Pilsner is golden in color and hopped with a bunch of genuine Czechoslovakian Saaz hops. These hops provide a special floral aroma and a delightfully hoppy finish.
Peregrine Falcons were recently reintroduced to the Harrisburg area as well as other large cities in Pennsylvania. This Falcon is one of the fastest birds, reaching speeds in excess of 200 miles per hour. Its unique ability to rid urban areas of its nemesis, the pigeon, has cities throughout the region clamoring for the Peregrine as a permanent resident.

May Specialty

June Specialty
Hinterland Hefe Weizen

OG: 13.2, FG: 3.0, ABW: 4.2, ABV: 5.3
A special German wheat ale yeast produces clove and banana flavors during fermentation leaving this unfiltered beer with an incredibly spicy and fruity complexity!

Our Brewmaster has acquired many medals at the Great American Beer Festival for this beer style. A difficult, four-step infusion mash schedule produces the complexity of this traditional beer style.

July Specialty
Dom Blonde Kölsch
OG: 11.5, FG: 2.1, ABW: 3.9, ABV: 5.0
The first in a series of two new specialty beers coming this year! This Kölsch-styled ale is clean, crisp, and delicately balanced. It has very subtle pear flavors and aromas. The subdued maltiness leads to a pleasantly refreshing finish. A fantastic summer brew!

The Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral), is one of the best-known architectural monuments in Germany and has been Cologne's most famous landmark since its completion in the late 19th century. True Kölsch can only be brewed if the brewery has a view of this famous cathedral, thus its’ appearance on our tap markers.

This Oktoberfest style Marzen is a favorite at the famous Bavarian fall beer festivals. The distinct toasted malt flavor of this amber lager finishes quite crisp due to the extensive lagering of this beer. One sip and you’ll swear you’re in Munich.

"Kipona" is the Indian word for "sparkling water". Each year, over Labor Day weekend, Harrisburg celebrates Kipona with a carnival and festival along the Susquehanna River and on City Island.

September Specialty
RauchBock
